Why is my blog post not showing up on Google?
Check whether Google knows the page exists
Search for the exact URL or check the page status in Google Search Console. A page that is not indexed will not appear in normal search results. New sites often take time before crawlers discover and process every post, so a few days of waiting is normal.
Submitting the URL for inspection can speed things up, but it does not guarantee a result. A sitemap also helps search engines find new pages.
Look for technical blocks
A noindex tag, a password-protected page, or a robots rule can keep a post out of results. Some themes and plugins add these tags by default. A canonical tag pointing to a different URL can also hide the post, so check the page source or the SEO settings.
A post with very thin content or heavy duplication may be held back as well. Adding original detail usually helps.
- Check for a noindex setting
- Confirm the post is not password protected
- Make sure the canonical tag points to the post itself
- Submit an updated sitemap
Giving the post a fair chance
Link to the new post from an older, related post on your site. Internal links help crawlers find new pages and show readers that the topics connect. Then wait a reasonable period before making big changes, since frequent edits can slow the review.
Common mistakes
- Deleting and recreating a post repeatedly, which resets its progress.
- Assuming a post is broken after a day or two without checking its indexing status.
